Day 19 Christmas Eve
Today is Christmas Eve already, can't believe it!!!!
We got up and Raven & I went shopping on 17th avenue while Denny & Skye went to the mall and swimming in the pool, Kyle took a little time to relax on his own in the room.
Eric met up with us for Christmas Eve dinner which was supposed to be Vietnamese Village but they closed early so to the kids delight we went to MacDonalds (we had subway).
Came back to the room for a glass of wine and a swim in the pool. Got cookies for Santa delivered to the room and ordered room service, banana splits for the kids and fresh fruit sorbet for us while we watched Shrek and got ready to wait for Santa!

Day 18
We spent the day in Calgary today. Ate at a yummy restaurant for brunch; Milestones. Then caught a bus to Inglewood for a little street shopping. Eric picked us up and we headed out to Village Square for some waterslide, wave pool & hot tub fun.
We spent the rest of the evening at Eric's, making shortbread cookies, decorating gingerbread houses and eating Vern's pizza. Eric also spent some teaching the kids to solve the rubix cube. Got back to the Palliser just before midnight.

Day 17
Woke up in banff and went downtown one last time to see Skyes favorite store and pick up a couple banff souvenirs.
Jumped back on a brewster bus to take us back to Calgary. I have to say I felt really sad seeing the mountains behind me. I love love love the mountains.
We arrived at the Palliser hotel and wow, what a gigantic room we have! Very very nice! We went to the mall for a bite to eat and to pick up a little tree at the dollar store and some decorations for our room, went back to decorate and wrap presents. Looking and feeling much more festive now!
We got together with Eric for a whacky trip to the Walmart to pick up gingerbread house making stuff for tomorrow. Was a great relaxed day!

Day 16
We woke up this morning to an amazing mountain sunrise in Lake Louise!! It was beautiful! It snowed 15 cm overnight and was a clear and absolutely beautiful day!
The winter solstice and "predicted end of the world" but I couldn't get over how perfectly beautiful it was.
We caught our bus at 10:15 for Banff and Eric drove Kyle with him. We arrived at Banff Aspen Lodge before noon, what a perfect little place. Right downtown and a suite with two rooms and a patio facing Banff Avenue, the other entrance faced the courtyard with two hot tubs outside with a fireplace, this is the coldest day yet in the Rockies, about -20 with wind chill. Brrrr. Today everyone was really tired. We all went to Eddie burger, which was awesome!!!! Expensive, but awesome!!! We spent a little time downtown and in the hot tub and then took it easy the rest of the day!!!! Tomorrow...Calgary!

Day 15
Wow what a day!!!!
It is 10:30pm here which is 1:30 am at home. We just got back from a 2 hour night time snowshoe adventure with a tour guide on Fairview Mountain in lake Louise. Wow! That was amazing!!! We saw lots of animal tracks and heard lots of history about lake Louise. Our guide saw 70 grizzly bears this year and told us all about an orphaned grizzly cub that they have been watching for the past 15 years. Very interesting.
We also watched a guy build an ice bar completely put of ice out front of our room and at night they will actually serve drinks at this ice bar!!
Lake Louise is very cool, the hotel we are staying at is chateau lake lousie, another very big and very old and expensive resort. This hotel was built in 1880 and burned to the ground and the rebuilt and burned to the ground again in 1929!!
I made a mistake about banff being the highest town in Canada, it is Lake Louise. Lake Louise is 5700feet above sea level, which means 5700 feet higher than home!
Well everyone is pretty tired out!
We are off back to banff tomorrow for one more night then Calgary for three nights, including Christmas then back home!!
Oh yes, I can't forget that our good friend Eric McLeod made the trip from Calgary to hang out with us and go snowboarding with Kyle at mount Norquay tomorrow!!!
